“Overall, this show truly understood the heart of Matilda. At its core, it is a story about childhood, love and the power within every person to do remarkable things. I loved seeing Timpanogos Arts Foundation produce another smash hit with Matilda.”

Matilda the Musical is another show that's made the rounds through educational and community theatre and can be difficult to find a unique perspective to tell the story from. That was made even more challenging due to sharing the director role with someone else.

I focused my work in this production on grounding the abusive environment Matilda was raised in, which allowed for us to show her developing her magical powers more gradually as a way to cope with her situation.

Matilda the Musical is a delightful show, mixing the whimsy of childhood with the grit of unfortunate circumstances. Timpanogos Arts Foundation put on an excellent show that reminds children that “even if you’re little, you can do a lot.” For a good time with a hopeful message, catch Matilda the Musical at the Valentine Theater in American Fork."
